Meet David Fashant
I have lived along the Mississippi River on the Dayton River Road for 15 years, and I am proud to call this beautiful city my home. I grew up in Richfield and have been a life-long Minnesota resident. I have grown children living in the metro area and I also have two younger children -- one who recently graduated from Rogers High School, and the other at Rogers Middle School.
My wife Crystal is a professor in public and nonprofit leadership at Metropolitan State University. My family and I enjoy our local outdoors, from biking and snowmobiling, to canoeing and taking our pontoon down the Mississippi River.
My career in healthcare leadership spanned 40 years, retiring in 2019 as Regional Director of Facilities for Fairview Southdale and Ridges Hospitals. I was responsible for 60 employees and a $20 million annual budget. I was involved in planning, design, and construction for major hospital additions and renovations, often serving as the hospitals' point-person for multi-million-dollar contracts. I have experience holding vendors accountable to budget, design specs, and most importantly, safety. At Fairview, I was also in charge of the Security Department, the Environment of Care, and Emergency Management, and managing regulatory compliance with myriad government agencies. There is no doubt in my mind that these skills have been very useful in my work on city council over the past five years, lending my expertise and insights to making each project more successful.
